Is renowned for its very high-quality red wines. The silty-clay soils of alluvial origin and the cool, dry climate endow the terroir with ideal characteristics for well-structured and highly persistent red wines.

CASABLANCA VALLEY

The clay and the granitic soils of limited fertility and the valley´s maritime influence enable the production of grape with high aromatic expression and abundant freshness.

WINEMAKER

JORGE MARTÍNEZ

Was born in Talca, Chile, in 1971. He entered the University of Talca in 1990 to study Agriculture, specializing in Winemaking. Since 1995.

 

He has worked in a number of wineries in Chile and abroad, some of the most outstanding  are  being  Viña  Concha  y  Toro  (Santiago,  Chile),  Kendall  Jackson  (La  Crema,  Napa  Valley),  Viñedos  Santo  Cristo  (Campo  de  Borja,  Spain),  Château  Haut  Boucier (Blaye, France) and Château Léoville-Poyferré (Bordeaux, France).

 

In 1999 he joined  Viña  Morandé, in  2005  he  moved  into  Operations  Director  and  Winemaking  of  Morandé  Wine  Group.  In  this  position  he  took  care  of  the  cellar,  where  most  of  the  Wines  of  Morandé Wine Group are made. It has a vinification capacity for 12 million liters in stainless steel tanks, 750 thousand liters of ageing capacity in casks of French and American oak and 250 thousand litres of storage capacity in Italian 2,000 and 4,000-litre . It also has modern laboratories and world-standard certifications. In this labour the cellar obtained all certifications, where we can find between the most important, the ISO 9.000 e ISO 14.000.Since  2010  he  is  the  Winemaking  Director  of  Viña  Fray León.
